Scottsdale is one of the top cities for affordably priced apartments in thriving communities, according to a new report from RentCafe.

The rental market analysis website examined over 100 U.S. cities based on three main criteria: cost of living/housing (including average apartment sizes, occupancy, new apartments, high-end apartments, renter households, upsize cost for extra bedrooms, applicants per vacant unit and lease renewal rate), the local economy (including unemployment rate, higher education rates, renter income, job growth and business applications) and quality of life (including apartment locations, school quality, annual delay per car commuter, car users, amenities and air quality). The cost of living scores were weighted most heavily.

Scottsdale ranked at No. 3 overall, with especially high scores for quality of life, ranking third in that category, and local economy, ranking 10th in that category. Though Scottsdale’s cost of living is slightly more expensive than in other cities — Scottsdale came in 42nd for cost of living — the city’s numerous perks outweigh the apartment prices.

The only cities ranked higher than Scottsdale in the study were Charleston, North Carolina and Plano, Texas.
