REALTOR® Community Cares Donation Day to help local charities meet growing needs

by Butch Leiber

In the world of real estate, community giving stands as a testament to the values that define the profession. REALTORS® understand that their role goes beyond buying and selling homes – it’s about building and nurturing communities.

This deep-seated responsibility is the driver behind the inaugural REALTOR® Community Cares Donation Day on Oct. 17. Hosted by Phoenix REALTORS®, the event is an opportunity for members and fellow professionals in the real estate sector to join hands in supporting three exceptional charitable organizations – Maggie’s Place, St. Mary’s Food Bank and YWCA – by dropping off a host of much-needed items from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Phoenix REALTORS office 7878 N. 16th St. #150, Phoenix, AZ 85020.

REALTOR® Community Cares Donation Day is more than just a charitable act – it’s an opportunity for REALTORS to strengthen their bonds with the community they serve. When REALTORS come together to support their neighbors, it fosters a sense of unity, belonging and shared responsibility that benefits everyone involved.

The impact of community giving on REALTORS

People in the real estate profession understand that community giving is a two-way street. It’s not just about the positive impact on the community, but also how it enriches the lives and careers of REALTORS themselves. Among the benefits:

· Building stronger connections: When REALTORS actively participate in community giving, they forge stronger connections with local residents and organizations. These connections can lead to valuable partnerships and collaborations that enhance their professional network.

· Enhancing reputation: A REALTOR with a reputation for community involvement is often seen as more trustworthy and reliable by clients. It demonstrates a commitment to the well-being of the community, which aligns with the values many clients hold dear.

· Personal fulfillment: Community giving is inherently rewarding. It provides a sense of personal fulfillment and purpose beyond the transactional nature of real estate deals. REALTORS who engage in charitable activities often find their work more satisfying.

· Positive impact on the market: Strong, vibrant communities are a magnet for homebuyers. REALTORS who contribute to community improvement indirectly benefit their real estate business by making their areas more attractive to potential buyers.

The impact of donations

Donations made during the REALTOR® Community Cares Donation Day have a tangible and lasting effect on the organizations and the communities they serve. Regardless of the size of contributions, every effort counts in making a tangible impact on those in need.

The benefitting nonprofits and the much-needed items they require are:

Maggie’s Place: This 501(c)3 organization is dedicated to supporting mothers, upholding their dignity and breaking down barriers to their success. The most-requested items include personal hygiene products, welcome packages for new mothers, exit essentials for those moving into their apartments and self-care items for mothers.

St. Mary’s Food Bank: St. Mary’s Food Bank tirelessly works toward alleviating hunger while promoting self-sufficiency, collaboration, advocacy and education. REALTORS can make a difference by donating critical items like peanut butter, canned items such as fruits, vegetables, soups and proteins, as well as rice, beans, cereals and pasta.

YWCA: YWCA Metropolitan Phoenix, with a history dating back to 1912, empowers women and advocates for equity, justice and human dignity. REALTORS can help by providing shelf-stable snacks, hygiene products and personal care items that support their mission.
