Phoenix builders have been hard at work over the past decade. According to a new report from StorageCafe, the Valley of the Sun ranks No. 8 in the country when it comes to housing development over the past 10 years.

Using data from the United States Census Bureau, StorageCafe found that 81,378 building permits were granted in Phoenix between January 2013 to December 2022. More than half of these permits were for multifamily construction.

New York saw the most development over the past decade — the city’s multifamily building permits account for over 98% of its 242,000 developments in the last 10 years.
