For Sergio Rodriguez, problem-solving comes naturally. Educated in engineering but called to lending and finance, he transitioned to a loan officer position after beginning his career in banking. “I am skilled at researching and I like to find out why things work the way they work. In the mortgage industry, that is crucial because of the guideline nature of the business,” says Rodriguez. He finds satisfaction in solving problems for others.
The bilingual (English and Spanish) mortgage professional didn’t realize it at the time, but he became familiar with and interested in lending by translating financial documents for his Spanish-speaking parents as a young man. Because of his early experiences, he says, his career path felt not only natural but also like a true calling.
Rodriguez’s clients describe him as easy to work with, caring, communicative, and tenacious. He drives himself to be a subject-matter expert and believes being process driven and disciplined in his work grows things faster. He says his daily motivation comes from his team of 10, who are also bilingual, and the knowledge that their collective efforts will help more people in Arizona’s West Valley.
The National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals has named Rodriguez to their top 250 each year since 2018. His free time finds him not only serving as president of NAHREP’s Greater Phoenix chapter, but also enjoying the outdoors or traveling, even if it’s just a short road trip. However, if it’s football season, he’s sure to be watching his Dallas Cowboys.
