You can find ultra-luxury homes for sale in every corner of the United States. But how do we define what counts as an “expensive” sale when prices vary so widely from one place to the next?

Point2Homes analyzed listings in every U.S. state and Washington, D.C. to determine the most expensive home for sale in each. The real estate research site then ranked each state based upon its most expensive listing.

Of course, the priciest homes in certain states dwarf many others. The most expensive home for sale in all of Nebraska, ranked No. 51, costs $3,890,000 — only 1.5% of the cost of the most expensive listing in No. 1-ranked California, which is listed for $250 million.

Arizona ranked at No. 25, with its most expensive home on the market currently listed for $28 million. Located at 20958 N. 112th Street in Scottsdale, the 13,617-square-foot property includes seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms and a hidden catering kitchen, in addition to unique entertainment features.

The luxury property was listed by Dana and Jeff Bloom of Engel & Völkers Scottsdale.
