Scottsdale named one of the top coworking suburbs in America

by Liz Hughes

Scottsdale has been named one of the top coworking suburbs in America, according to a new report from CoworkingCafe.

Thirty-seven communities across the country made CoworkingCafe’s list of top coworking suburbs. The cities and towns were selected from data to determine exactly which areas have at least 10 coworking spaces. Metros were not excluded from the research, Coworking Cafe said they focused on metros that have at least three such suburbs.

What they found was that 44% of all coworking inventory in the U.S. is distributed among suburbs.

“While the remaining 56% is concentrated in bustling urban cores, the popularity of flex spaces surrounded by picket fences stands out as a clear sign of a healthy demand coming from suburban residents, as well as operators’ willingness to bet on more than just centrally located business districts and busy downtowns,” the report said.

Scottsdale ranked fourth on the list with 22 coworking spaces.

Irvine, California topped the list with 91. At the metro level, Los Angeles had the highest number of suburban coworking spaces with 361, according to the report.

Newport Beach, California, and Arlington, Virginia, took the No. 2 spot with 25 spaces each, followed by Oakland, California, with 24. Boca Raton, Florida, and Plano, Texas, closed out the top five with 19 spaces each.
