Clayton Susich Realtor

CR Realty with HomeSmart

What was your most interesting job before going into real estate?

My most interesting job before real estate was probably working at a popular coffee shop in Arizona called Dutch Bros. It taught me a lot of good communication skills but was a little too high energy all the time for me.

Where did you grow up?

Gilbert, Arizona.

Growing up, what did you want to be?

A soccer player.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed?

My favorite thing to do when I’m stressed is coach basketball. It always helps to clear my mind

If you could meet any well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why?

Kobe Bryant. He was my favorite athlete growing up, and I always admired his work ethic.

What is Phoenix’s best-kept secret?

I think Phoenix’s best-kept secret is Phoenix as a whole. Everyone who lives here knows how amazing it is, but anyone I work with/talk to from out of state already doesn’t like it because they hear it gets hot. Arizona is an amazing state and Phoenix is an amazing city. Don’t let the heat fool you.

What do you love most about the industry?

I enjoy the competition and that I directly determine my own success.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents?

I believe it’s my competitive nature, putting an extra level of care into every step of the process and my youth giving me the ability to look at problems through a fresh and energetic lens.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job?

Balancing my time. When you work for yourself there is no set time when you are on or off the clock.

What’s your best advice for generating new leads?

That there isn’t one recipe for leads or success. Find your path and grind it out. The key is consistency.

What are you binge-watching/reading/listening to lately?

Call me basic, but Better Call Saul and Stranger Things.

What’s your favorite meal in Phoenix?

Recently I’ve been loving Buck and Rider in Arcadia. I love seafood.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Phoenix?

I love all the new buildings on Tempe Town Lake. I think they look so modern and elegant.

What’s the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you on the job?

I was showing a house once while a pipe broke and water started flowing everywhere.

What’s one thing people are surprised to learn about you?

I think people are most surprised to learn that I coach basketball. It’s such a unique hobby to have that most people do not expect it.

What is your favorite vacation spot and why?

L.A. My whole family is from there, and I always try to spend a good chunk of my summer there. You can’t beat bike rides in 70-degree weather or going in the ocean.

What is your favorite city after Phoenix?

In Arizona – Tempe. In the U.S. – Seattle.

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry?

It’s a grind, but enjoy the grind.

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app?

It’s a simple one but the reminder app, the stock app that comes with the iPhone. Without reminders, I would not survive as a Realtor.

Who are your favorite people to follow on social media?

I’m a big fan of “Complex.” They just post celebrity and sports news. I also love following fashion accounts to get some new ideas.
