Rate relaunches app with wellness focus

by John Yellig

Fintech company Rate has relaunched its app with a focus on wellness. In the relaunch, Rate noted the results of a study it conducted, which found that almost seven in 10 homebuyers said homeownership keeps them up at night.

Stress tied to buying a home now tops changing jobs and getting married as a leading source of stress in the United States, according to the Stress Gap Report, which surveyed more than 600 homeowners. The survey was conducted in the fourth quarter of 2024; Rate plans to release updated versions throughout 2026.

In the survey, 53% of respondents said buying a home is somewhat or much more stressful than most other major life events like getting married or changing jobs. The No. 1 cause of homebuying stress is obtaining a mortgage (54%), followed by dealing with paperwork (50%), timing the move or sale (41%) and fear of making a bad investment (22%).

The new Rate app offers more than 1,300 free wellness videos created and led by over 60 instructors and experts, as well as personalized tools and insights to help users understand and close their “stress gap,” which Rate defines as the space between financial security, emotional well-being and overall wellness. Available resources include yoga, meditation, fitness, nutrition and sleep content.

“At Rate, we saw a real gap — too many people feeling the stress of homeownership without the tools to manage it,” Rate CEO Victor Ciardelli said. “Buying a home is one of life’s dreams and greatest accomplishments. Doing so should be celebrated and never detract from one’s overall well-being and peace of mind. We built the Rate App to help Americans feel awesome about their home-buying experience while maintaining and enhancing their mental, physical and emotional wellness.”

The Rate App now partners with security and smart-home technology providers, including ADT, ABT, Agilant and Wildfire, which provides users with shopping rewards, cashback, discounts and loyalty perks.

Other features include in-app spaces like Yoga Yard, Nutrition Kitchen, Sleep Sanctuary and Guru Garden; partnerships with wellness and home brands; AI-powered loan tools to assist with loan applications; and access to Rate’s loan officers.
