Greg Hancock, founder of Hancock Builders, announced his retirement from the CEO position. Hancock will become chairman, while Kelley Whiteley was named the new CEO.

Hancock founded his company in 1976. Under his leadership, the builder has added 25,000 homes and 5,000 build-to-rent units in the Phoenix area.

Whiteley brings 15 years of industry experience to her new role, most recently working as a consultant at MDU Technology Consultants LLC.

“Stepping into this role is both an incredible responsibility and a privilege,” Whiteley said in a press release. “I’ve long admired what Greg built — not just in terms of homes, but in setting a standard of quality and community impact. As we move into this next chapter, we’re committed to honoring that legacy while continuing to push forward with innovation, sustainability and smart design for how people live today.”

The Hancock Builders leadership team includes COO Janine Long, CFO Marianne Laupp, VP of Land Development Bobbi Johnson, VP of Purchasing Dan Cauble and VP of Forward Planning Steve Kunzweiler, as well as Hancock’s son, VP of Construction DJ Hancock.

“Leading Hancock Builders has been the honor of a lifetime,” said Hancock. “I will continue to focus on my passion for land acquisition. This company has always been about building quality, affordable housing for the Arizona community. I am proud of the legacy we’ve created, and equally proud to see Kelly and DJ carry it forward.”
