Scottsdale is the top city for snowbirds

by Emily Marek

Scottsdale is the top city in the United States for people who like to flee to warm-weather destinations in the winter — also known as “snowbirds.”

Thanks to year-round warm weather and ample amenities, Scottsdale ranked as the No. 1 city in the country for snowbirds in a recent analysis from This Old House (TOH).

The city has an average temperature of 60.1 degrees in the winter, and has 9.82 restaurants per 1,000 residents — the highest number of any city in TOH’s study — as well as 0.6 antique stores and 0.4 golf courses per 1,000 residents.

Furthermore, Scottsdale has a regional price parity of only 103.693, meaning it’s only slightly more expensive to live there compared to other U.S. cities.

Slightly further down the list were Peoria at No. 14 and Phoenix at No. 33.
