‘Affordable luxury’ is attainable in these Scottsdale, Phoenix and Gilbert ZIP codes

by Emily Marek

Renters can find affordable luxury rental units for less in certain Phoenix-area neighborhoods — more than $100 less than the typical upscale unit in the area, that is.

According to a recent report from RentCafe, the typical upscale unit in the Scottsdale area has a monthly price tag of $2,158. However, in the 85259 ZIP — in the McDowell Mountain Preserve neighborhood — upscale units have an average monthly rent of $1,578. That’s a gap of $581 — the largest gap in the Phoenix area and the third-largest of any ZIP in the country.

Decent gaps are also seen in the 85258 and 85260 ZIP codes, which have ZIP vs. city rent gaps of $252 and $234 for high-end apartments, respectively.

In Phoenix, the 85028 (North Phoenix) and 85044 (Ahwatukee Foothills) ZIP codes have luxury rent gaps of $177 and $138, respectively, compared to the citywide luxury average.

There’s also a $123 gap in the 85234 (northeast Gilbert) ZIP code and a $117 gap in the 85257 (South Scottsdale).
