The future of Arizona real estate is Latino. Are you ready?

Phoenix is one of the hottest real estate markets in the country (literally and figuratively). It’s also one of the most misunderstood. Too many agents still believe success here is about grinding harder, chasing leads or waiting for rates to drop. But that’s not it. The secret is much simpler and already reshaping Arizona’s future: The future of real estate is Latino.

For nine straight years, Latinos have increased their homeownership rate, even while other groups have flatlined or declined. According to the Hispanic Wealth Project’s State of Hispanic Homeownership Report, Latinos now hold a 49% homeownership rate nationwide and 59% in Arizona. This is a clear signal of where demand and growth are heading.

The question is: Are you ready for it?

Whether you are or not, the shift is already here. This is where associations like the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals Greater Phoenix step in. We don’t just watch the trends — we create them, and redefine how real estate professionals adapt, compete and win. Arizona’s real estate future is being written in real-time by Latino communities.

From reports to reality

At NAHREP Greater Phoenix, our mission is to advance sustainable Hispanic homeownership. This is more than charity work — it’s economic strategy.

When Latinos buy homes, we don’t just build personal wealth. We drive demand across industries, stabilize neighborhoods and grow the tax base that funds schools, infrastructure and business development. If you’re in real estate and you don’t understand this, you’re already playing catch-up. We’re not just a niche; We’re the future of your business.

That’s why we lean heavily on the HWP’s annual homeownership report. It’s not fluff — it’s market intelligence. It tells us which products work best and where growth is happening. Our members use it as a playbook to guide clients.

Advocacy that opens doors

Every transaction we complete is influenced by lending rules, government programs and housing policy, and NAHREP is in the rooms where those decisions are made.

We’ve pushed for alternative credit scoring models so rental history counts. We’ve advocated for expanded down payment assistance programs in Arizona to help first-generation buyers. We’re leading conversations around appraisal bias, demanding property valuations reflect real market conditions and not outdated assumptions. And this year, we’ve partnered with the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, putting Hispanic homeownership at the center of the state’s economic strategy.

These efforts aren’t headlines. They’re lifelines — directly impacting your ability to serve clients, close deals and build long-term business.

Education that builds generational wealth

In Arizona, Hispanics now represent nearly one-third of the population, and by 2040, we’re projected to drive the majority of homeownership growth in our state.

That’s not a trend. That’s the future of the industry.

To help members seize that opportunity, our Greater Phoenix chapter launched “10 To Win!”, a series breaking down NAHREP’s 10 Disciplines of Wealth. Each month, we focus on topics like minimizing debt, investing in real estate and stocks and knowing your net worth. These workshops provide practical, actionable strategies members can use immediately to grow their business and guide clients.

That’s not education, it’s empowerment.

Community, culture and familia

At NAHREP, we operate with a familia mindset. In Phoenix, that means leaning into our diverse, vibrant and growing community while building bridges with the broader real estate ecosystem.

This year, our events have become some of the hottest tickets in town. From our annual Latina Brunch to the Top 250 Awards (the biggest night for Latinos in Arizona real estate), we’ve established spaces where real deals are made and relationships are forged.

We also launched Mentorship Matters, pairing seasoned top producers with rising professionals. The future of our industry depends on passing knowledge forward, and the next generation deserves a pathway to leadership, not just a seat in the audience.

That spirit of collaboration is proof that when we bring culture, community and business together, our familia grows.

Leadership that expands your platform

The value of membership depends on the effort you put in, and at NAHREP Greater Phoenix, that effort pays off. We’re building leaders and changing careers by offering opportunities to build your presence by serving on committees and leading programs.

I know because NAHREP gave me the chance to serve on the board, become chapter president and gain a platform to speak nationally about Hispanic homeownership, wealth building and the future of our industry. It’s expanded my business and my influence. That same opportunity is available to anyone willing to step up.

Let’s connect

NAHREP Greater Phoenix isn’t waiting for the shift — we’re leading it. From advocacy wins and partnerships to mixers, mentorship and wealth-building education, we’re preparing members for the market that’s already here.

So what’s next? Join us at an upcoming event. Invite me to speak to your team or clients about the insights shaping Arizona’s future and who gets to own it. Become a member.

The numbers are clear and the momentum is real. The future of Arizona real estate is Latino. The only question: Will you lead it or be left behind?

Josh Carmona is President of NAHREP Greater Phoenix.
