Gilbert ranks among the U.S. cities where housing inventory has grown the most since 2005, according to a report from StorageCafe.
Inventory in Gilbert grew more than in any other city in the Phoenix area, with 96,506 units available in 2023. That represents a 67% increase from 2005 — the 12th-largest jump in the country. That figure includes single-family homes as well as rental housing units.
Avondale had the second-most growth in the Phoenix area and the 20th-most in the nation — its inventory grew by 63% from 2005 to 2023, with 33,698 housing units available.
Also in the top 50 nationwide were No. 21 Surprise, which had 65,665 housing units on the market in 2023, a 62% increase from 2005; and No. 31 Peoria, which had 79,426 units on the market, a 53% increase.
