Arizona is the top state for house flippers

by Emily Marek

Arizona is the No. 1 state in the country for house-flipping, according to a report from Highland Cabinetry.

The kitchen and bathroom wholesaler analyzed key expenses for house-flipping projects in every state in the United States and found that Arizona is the place where flippers stand to profit the most. Per their calculations, Arizonans can expect a return on investment of 20% when buying, remodeling and selling a fixer-upper.

House flippers in Arizona spend an average of $64,194 on a typical remodel, with more expensive flips ranging up to $67,412 and cheaper renovations costing about $60,975. While that’s about $5,000 more expensive than in Florida, the No. 2 state on Highland’s list, Arizonans are likely to sell their flips for a much higher price, with an average flipped home sale price of $429,787.

For comparison, the national average flipped home sale price is $360,643, with an average remodeling price of $67,791. That means Arizona flippers stand to spend less on renovations and make a much larger profit than the rest of the country.

Furthermore, Arizona’s sales rate per capita is the second highest in the nation, indicating that flippers are likely to sell their flips and won’t have to watch their investments sit on the market.
