Phoenix saw one of the largest jumps in new listings in the country last month, according to the RE/MAX National Housing Report for December.
Realtors entered 5,299 new listings into the MLS during the month. That’s a 19.6% increase over December 2022, when 4,431 new listings were added to the market. The only markets with higher margins of increase were Bozeman, Montana, where new listings increased by 75.6% year over year, and Houston, where new listings increased by 22% year over year.
Home sales, meanwhile, decreased annually. Closings fell by 5.7%, with 4,608 homes sold compared to 4,889 a year prior. Active inventory also decreased.
Meanwhile, the median home price rose 4.8% to $415,000.
