Chandler is two for two in Opendoor’s second-annual ranking of the most family-friendly U.S. cities. The Maricopa County town ranked No. 6 in the iBuyer’s survey, down from No. 4 last year.
Opendoor identified the best cities for families by analyzing and averaging the number of OpenStreetMap “family friendly” tags within 3 miles of all addresses in a city where Opendoor Brokerage operates. The tags include bench, community center, drinking water, garden, kindergarten, museum, park, picnic site, playground, school, swimming pool, supermarket and waste basket.
“Opendoor’s second-annual Family-Friendly Cities list celebrates cities and towns that are ahead of the curve by offering family-oriented programming and investing in outdoor spaces to promote a healthy way of living,” Opendoor Real Estate Broker Jennifer Patchen said. “While last year’s list highlighted locales with a small-town feel and big-city perks nearby, this year’s list reflects families’ desire for community, simpler living and an opportunity to build a network of like-minded families in green spaces.”
Part of what makes Chandler so family-friendly is the city’s parks — with over 60 developed parks within the city’s 65 square miles, 62% of residents live within a 10-minute walk of a park.
“Enriching lives through inclusive, affordable experiences is at the heart of what we do,” said Chandler Recreation Superintendent Becky Kuiper. “Whether it be attending a special park, participating in story time at the library or engaging in one of the many programs we offer, there are endless opportunities for families to discover, imagine and grow in Chandler.”
