Phoenix is the No. 5 winter destination in the U.S. for vacationers who like to flee to warm weather when it gets cold outside, according to a report from WalletHub.

Based on metrics like travel costs, local attractions and weather, the finance site ranked both cold-weather and warm-weather vacation destinations and found that Phoenix is one of the top cities for snowbirds, beat out only by Las Vegas, San Diego, Austin and Dallas.

The city boasts some of the lowest travel costs in the country with relatively low hassle involved — plus ranked No. 1 for warm winter weather.

On the flip side, the top cold-weather winter destination was Chicago, followed by Atlanta, Washington, D.C., St. Louis and Cincinnati.
